ECC Camps: Our Story
Who we've been, who we are, and why we do what we do
For over forty years, ECC Camps has been preparing and leading camps for students. We have seen thousands of campers enter and exit our grounds and hope to see thousands more in the years to come. In their short time with us, we hope to see them chew on these three C’s:
Challenge. Camp is a place where kids are challenged physically - it’s non-stop motion, full of activities they might have never tried before and some they might not try again. Kids are challenged socially - they learn to live away from home for a time and in the presence of new faces from backgrounds of all kinds. Kids are challenged spiritually - we hope our camps help our campers ask big questions about who God is, what he’s done, and what it all means in their homes, their schools, their friendships, and themselves.
Community. We want to come along kids and help them understand how life is lived together. We want to fly in the face of individualistic society and help campers cherish relationships, often with those with whom we don’t always see eye to eye.
Creation. We want to get kids out. We want them to hike, to splash in creeks, to spot wildlife, to tread through ground once inhabited by Native Americans and early settlers. We want them to see the world God made first-hand and be motivated to care for it as something they’ve known and loved.
